Hundreds of millions of people need mental health care they will never receive. The system built to deliver it was designed for a smaller problem and a narrower few — too costly, too concentrated, too slow for the scale the need now demands.
That is changing. New science, new technology, and new models of delivery are rewriting what mental health care can be. The game is afoot. The Shamiri Summit is the invitation to write the new playbook together.
The need has outgrown the system. Care is too scarce, too expensive, and too far from where young people live. The barrier isn’t awareness. It’s access.
A new playbook is emerging across the whole field. Evidence for what works. Technology that extends it. Delivery that opens it to all. Together — a new standard of care.
Better care doesn’t scale on its own. It needs a workforce to deliver it, technology to extend it, and financing to sustain it. Building that is a shared job — researchers, builders, governments, and funders in one room.
